Lately, there's a lot I've been wrong about.
Things that I've believed to be true, haven't been. Things that I've clung to, have left. Familiar mindsets have been proven guilty. It's a scary thing when there is something deep in the core of your heart, that is clearly false or sinful.
I've recently found myself in a deep rut of false belief about my salvation and grace. Jesus found me in a place of thinking I was saved by my works. I've nonchalantly been living in a way that said, "My actions are greater than the cross". He revealed to me the severity of seeking out how HE defines our salvation and what grace means to HIM. So, I was scared. I had something hidden in my heart, effecting how I lived every single day, and I didn't know how to fix it. How exactly do you go about fixing your heart? As I sat in my fear long enough, with the words of Satan consuming my thoughts, Jesus woke me up and I came to the conclusion that I couldn't. I couldn't fix my heart by myself. I realized that I didn't have control over this one. It was all Jesus. I knew He was the only one who could remold me.
Our salvation is non-negotiable if we genuinely love, and believe in Him. This life is not about what you do, the things you say, or what people say about you. This life is about serving Jesus and drawing close to Him. Now, my purpose of this post is not to talk about grace or salvation, or the cross. Because I'm still in an uncertain state, and certainly under qualified at this point in my life to be writing about that. My purpose of writing today is to tell you that Jesus wants to meet you exactly where you are at. He doesn't need you to come to Him, stitched up and full of understanding and answers. Yes, Jesus commands us to seek a life of wisdom but I'm convinced that God delights in our questions. He delights in our uncertainty. Our weakness results in a direct need for our Father.
It's a scary thing to have a lot of questions. Maybe that's you today. Maybe you're in a situation that doesn't make any sense. Maybe you have questions about heaven. Maybe you have questions about something like college or your future career. But here's what I think Jesus wants you to know:
1. You serve a faithful God who desires you and knows what's best. He will not leave you in your confusion and uncertainty. Trust Him.
2. You are on a marathon of a process. This is your journey of knowing Him and becoming more like Him. God is not in a hurry. He is supreme over every season, and could easily place you at the finish line. Yet, He chooses to walk you through every single step in order to get you there. He delights in your process of finding Him.
You are never past the point of being worthy.
You are never too messy.
Your questions are never too "big" or too "hard" for God.
Do not allow Satan to take your heart captive during this time. The enemy might try and tell you that you're not worth anything because you don't have it all together. Or, he might try and tell you that you're doing it wrong, or that everything before this has been for nothing. But he couldn't be more wrong.
Jesus sees past your mess. He's willing to meet you and all your unsureness.
He just wants you.
Even if that means you and a million questions.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."
- Proverbs 1:7
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death." - Romans 8:1-2
